Mr Farrar was appointed to Poole Hospital and Bournemouth Hospital in 2000 as a general orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in lower limb, foot, ankle and trauma surgery.

Mr Farrar graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1986 and completed his basic surgical training through the Royal Army Medical Corps during a 5 year short service commission in the army. After leaving the army he completed his higher specialist training in orthopaedic surgery in the Yorkshire rotation.

During training he carried out his sub-speciality fellowship training in complex trauma and limb reconstruction surgery in the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield under the supervision of Professor Michael Saleh. The Northern General Hospital has an internationally recognised limb reconstruction department. Mr Farrar gained experience in correction of deformities of the lower limbs, lengthening of lower limbs and correction of complex foot and ankle deformities. He also trained with a number of specialist foot and ankle surgeons in the Yorkshire region.

Mr Farrar’s current practice, as well as foot and ankle surgery, includes hip and knee surgery including hip replacement, knee replacement, knee ligament reconstruction and arthroscopy as well as all complex trauma problems in both lower and upper limbs.

Mr Taylor qualified from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School in 1994. His postgraduate surgical training was carried out in London on the North West Thames Specialist Registrar training programme, including working at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital & Charing Cross Hospital, both being internationally renowned Teaching Hospitals.

At the end of his training, he carried out sub-speciality fellowship training in complex foot and ankle surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, under the supervision of Mr John Angel and Mr Dishan Singh. The RNOH is a world famous centre of excellence for complex orthopaedic surgery. He gained vast experience in treating all forms of complex foot and ankle conditions, with patients being referred from hospitals around the country, as well as internationally.

He was appointed to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole Hospital in 2004 as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in complex foot and ankle surgery.

Mr Taylor’s current practice is almost exclusively related to conditions of the foot and ankle. This includes the management of complex trauma of the foot and ankle, as well as treating high level athletes and professional sportsmen and women.

He also takes an active role in training the next generation of Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He lectures on a number of local and national instructional courses, as well as hosting visiting surgeons wishing to learn complex Foot and Ankle surgical procedures.
